We strive to help our new children settle in as quickly as possible. Sometimes it helps having something familiar to bring in with them and we encourage children to bring in an item for our 'show and tell' box at each session. This could be something they are particularly fond of (a toy, teddy etc), something they would like to tell everyone about (maybe a book, a photograph for example), or even something such as a leaf found on the way in. Although we would ask that the objects are not tiny, precious, expensive or fragile. This helps the children build their own sense of identity and helps them quickly find their place in their new group of friends.
We like to offer all new children and their parents 'settling-in' sessions, so you can meet the staff and familiarise yourself with the nursery. Please feel free to identify a couple of sessions to visit us (these are non chargeable). The sessions could be during the first few weeks of the term or just before you are due to start.
We would ask you (or someone your child feels very comfortable with) to stay for the first session (usually around an hour). Then if you are comfortable to leave your child for an hour or two for the second session you are most welcome to do so.
"All three of my children have gone to the West Chiltington Montessori. My daughter has learnt so much (socially, educationally) since being there. She always looks forward to going in and skips into school every day."
"The staff are amazing - experienced, friendly, kind, upbeat and attentive. I feel that my daughter is in the best of hands and within a safe environment."
"The days are filled with fun activities including music, dance, crafts, forest school, walks, PE and woodwork to mention but a few. The Montesorri provides a lovely way to learn through play."
"The nursery provides free flow for the children into a lovely outdoor garden space with its own mud kitchen and vegetable patch."
"I couldn't be happier with the school and wouldn't choose to send my children anywhere else! My daughter has grown in confidence, but I can't help feeling a bit sad that she will be leaving next term to start in Reception!"
"The Montessori has provided a wonderful setting for both of our children. The eldest started at two and went right through to west chiltington school with six other friends who he is still very close too. This made a great start to school life!"
"Our youngest son is two and is loving nursery life wanting to go in even on his days off."
"The staff are just fantastic and know each child personally. Each day they lay out wonderful activities to explore. They teach about kindness, love and respect to each other and begin teaching independence preparing for school which is very helpful!"
